Move to Pinterest

Over the next year I intend to revamp my website and make the photo section more user friendly and the whole lot more mobile friendly. In the meantime I will be posting photos of my work to my work Pinterest board only and not here. So follow this link to see what I’ve been up to…

First break this year

Enjoying a “break” of a month and a half after finishing the Porto project for Cod Steaks that I have been working on since January. Next stop: Southwold from mid-June. Best get on with the designing of the 5 shows in the summer season!

Quiet after the storm

After supervising two pantos over the Christmas period, Snow White in Ipswich and Aladdin in Carlisle for Enchanted Entertainment I had a week off before heading to White Horse in Germany for the January primary school production period. I am back in Bristol for a few months now and will have time to sell more bits on Etsy and sort out Mirigoround Costume Hire as well as making 6 bridesmaids dresses and some shirts for a band amongst other things

Costume Hire Catalogue PDF

Is now available and will be on the website soon.

Mirigoround Costume Hire

Mirigoround costume hire is on it’s way. I am thinking of adding it to this website so it’ll be www.mirigoround.co.uk/costumehire.
menswear photos all done – e-mail if you want a sneak preview
complete catalogue of over 900 costumes now done (although the collection is growing day by day)

Spent Christmas dressing (left side) on Coram Boy at the Colston Hall. Amazing show, very anti-panto with all the dead babies. Just got back from doing first official job as a costume maker in Germany and settling back in to private commissions and costume hire business set up in Bristol. First Southwold production meeting coming up in a month. woohoo. busy busy

End of Southwold 2011

Wow what a great and intense season. 11 weeks and first day off today!!! Some nice little reviews from some of the shows.

Fiddlers Three: “…some well-observed costume design by Miri Birch…” Ben Sharratt. The Stage

Move Over Mrs Markham: “…some judiciously selected costumes by Miri Birch.” Anne Morley-Preistmann. whatsonstage.com

Love From a Stranger: “Miri Birch’s costumes for the two women are excellent.” Anne Morley-Priestman. whatsonstage.com

Theatrically a quiet winter and spring but lots of little commissions to keep me going which is nice. Getting stuck in to designing the 5 shows for the Jill Freud Summer Theatre Season in Southwold now which starts in Mid-June.

out of hibernation

all the impending work is starting to escalate now. the bridesmaids dresses are nearing completion, just the cravats and cake ribbon to do on that job. Another shift dress still to make (with no particular deadline, which is always a luxury) The Jill Freud season (of which I am designing and supervising the whole of this year) is now in full swing and the Gang Show costume sale is back on. No time for slacking/relaxing/sleeping!!

It’s all over…

My mega summer has now come to an end. I just about survived in intact. So nice to be home. Next project is concentrating on getting the personal stlying/shopping/clients up and running a bit more, expecting it to be busy over the Christmas period.
